No, what you see above are not two accidentally repeated images of the same phone. Actually, Meizu revealed some new renderings of the miniOne iPhone clone (formerly the Meizu M8) that look hardly different from the old ones.

Maybe Meizu is trying to get past Apple lawyers, who will have to strain their eyes to see the difference between the old and the new Meizu miniOne.

Do you share my sentiment that this barely qualifies as a non-iPhone-knockoff? Because the people over at the Meizu Me forums seem delusional to me.

One poster says: “Looks like a m8 to me not an iphone… if it looked like an iphone it would have an apple on the back.” Sure, I guess (is he nuts!?).

As you would expect in Asia, the mobile phone market is flooded with iPhone clones by now. The Meizu miniOne (formerly known as the Meizu M8) was the first nearly-identical iPhone lookalike we saw.

The latest contender is the IP2000, whose top half is nearly indistinguishable from that of the Apple iPhone, if not for its frontal camera lens.

Unlike the iPhone, the IP2000 sports an added number pad, because the touchscreen functionality on the display is optional. An “OK” button replaces the iPhone’s Home button, and four menu buttons have also been added.

The IP2000′s camera is 2 megapixels, just like the iPhone’s. The clone phone’s designers not-so-cleverly added an apple (the fruit, not the Cupertino company logo), surrounding the back camera lens.

The big difference between the IP2000 and the iPhone is that the IP2000 uses a stylus, making it more like a PDA than a phone.

Let’s see how much momentum this iPhone lookalike can gain before the iPhone comes out in June and even more iPhone clones abound.

With all the news of iPhone-inspired mobile phones, I thought I’d put together a list of the five most notable iPhone clones:

Meizu miniOne iPhone Lookalike

Meizu’s miniOne, formerly known as the M8, will sport:

• WinCE 6.0
• 3-megapixel camera (compared to iPhone’s 2 megapixels)
• 3.3-inch VGA+ screen (iPhone’s is 3.5 inches)
• GSM support
• TV-out
• Photo/video/MP3 compatibility

The miniOne seems like a suitable iPhone alternative for the Windows-inclined who can live without a rotating display and Visual Voicemail.

It will likely be more affordable than the iPhone, too. And lucky for you the miniOne looks a lot like the iPhone, so you may be able to fool your friends into thinking you own one.

Teclast T59 iPhone Lookalike

The Teclast T59 is another aesthetically-appealing iPhone clone. Since the T59 is only in its concept stages, a lot could change still, but here are some of the specs for this 3G mobile phone:

• Windows CE
• Built-in GPS
• WiFi
• VGA screen w/ secondary display
• FM radio
• Photo/video/MP3 compatibility

The T59′s got a sleek black finish with a chrome lining like the iPhone’s. Here are two concept photos:

LG Prada KE850 iPhone Lookalike

LG’s Prada KE850, designed in tandem with the fashion designer, was announced last year and will debut in Europe later this month for a whopping 600 Euros (almost $800 USD). It will feature:

• 2-megapixel camera
• microSD card slot (to make up for its skimpy 8 MB of memory)
• Bluetooth 2.0 & USB 2.0
• Preloaded w/ black & white theme (others may be available)
• FM radio
• Photo/video/MP3 compatibility

Sorry LG, but for $800 big ones I’d rather get an iPhone and a half.

ASUS Aura iPhone Lookalike

The ASUS Aura is, to me, the least visually attractive of the iPhone clones, though it’s got the largest touchscreen at 3.9 inches as well as a rotating display like the iPhone’s. Other features include:

• 2 megapixel camera
• Bluetooth
• microSD card slot
• miniUSB
• Photo/video/MP3 compatibility

iSoftPhone iPhone Lookalike

This iPhone lookalike is not a physical mobile phone but a Mac OS X desktop application that functions as a user interface for VoIP phones.

Even the iSoftPhone website is a knockoff of Apple’s. They’re gonna have some real problems getting this past Apple’s legal team. [Update: The website has since been renamed/redesigned.]

*BONUS* CECT P168 iPhone Lookalike

Thanks, Shiv for pointing out a sixth iPhone lookalike, the CECT P168.

The Cect P168 shares in common with iPhone a 3.5-inch display and a 2-megapixel camera. Other features include:

• 2 SIM card slots (you can switch between SIMs without turning off the phone)
• a built-in dictionary
• games

Apparently Meizu looks up to Apple like a big brother, because just as Apple used the iPhone name despite Cisco owning the iPhone trademark, Meizu’s iPhone clone, miniOne, also happens to share its name with a Venzero portable media player that has been out since last June.

Is Meizu being so aggressive in the hopes of attracting loads of attention via all the negative publicity? It’s working, I’m sure.

I can’t wait to see what happens when Meizu gets pounded left and right with lawsuits.

According to Engadget, Meizu’s CEO said on the Chinese Meizu forum that the Meizu miniOne debuted four days before Macworld, after which it underwent a name change and some design tweaks (to make it more like iPhone, duh!).

The Meizu miniOne “upgrades” so far:

Engadget appropriately compared Meizu’s miniOne tweaks to “double-checking your answers with your neighbors’ before turning in your test.”

The only thing up in the air now is whether the poster on the Meizu forum was actually Meizu’s CEO J. Wong. I’ll keep you updated.

No one is sure whether these Meizu M8 concepts are real or fake, because Meizu has “borrowed features” from other products in the past.

My guess is that the concepts are fake. Meizu would have had to work their butts off to engineer an iPhone look-alike so quickly. Plus, if you look closely, you’ll notice on the photo below the Meizu logo on the M8 is of lower quality than the rest of the image:
