An AT&T store rep. told the blogger at Tekno Junkie that the iPhone would retail at a non-contract price of $899/$999 for the 4GB and 8GB phones.

The prices are worth noting, but as I’ve said before, I don’t trust store sales reps. so I’ll take this rumor with a grain of salt.

This is stupid. Don’t report stuff like miscellaneous salespeople making stupid guesses. The iPhone is unsubsidized. There is NO “NON-CONTRACT” price… you CANNOT get one without a contract. As little news as there is, it seems flatly ridiculous that anyone would simply forget what we already know for certain.

Yeah, I had a *T-Mobile* guy tell me the iPhone had been announced to be sold retail unlocked…
