Believe it or not, I had to drive back to the Apple Store today to exchange my new iPhone for another.
The phone I originally purchased had something loose in the USB port that brought it out of charge mode with even the slightest movement of the USB cable.
I was the first person to go back to the Apple Store to report an iPhone problem, they told me, so the issue may be a rare occurrence.
The problem is, since I activated the first iPhone, activating this second one is proving to be a major hassle.
After going through the activation process, I got this message: “AT&T is now processing your activation. You will receive an email confirmation once your activation is complete.”
Until then, I can’t use any of the iPhone features. Calling AT&T offers no solace, since they are not committed enough to their customers to keep their support lines open past 9:00 on the date of the iPhone release.
I did get a glimpse of my first iPhone’s interface, and I like what I saw. But there are a few features that could use some improvement. Luckily, most of them can be easily solved with firmware updates.

Sorry for the delay. It’s a teaser for me, too. I got to play with my iPhone for a good hour, and now I’ve got a new one that I can’t even use!

I cant believe another over-priced, over-rated apple product could garnish so much publicity. This event and those sheep like apple drones cause me to lose faith in humanity.
Well, I got the iPhone last night and being hearing impaired and wear 2 hearing aids, I was really curious…tried all my different devices to see if I could hera and understand as a cell phone.
The iPod works great with all of my custom attachments, but…
The iPhone is not at all hearing aid compatible (using the T coil). I also tried Bluetooth and that was very distorted. So, unless another member of my family wats this phone, I’ll take it back. Really disppointed. I could ot do online research and no one at the Apple store knew the hearing aid rating that manufactures are required to provide.
Let’s see what they say when I try to cancel the $59 open box charge.
Seems to me that if you had activated the first one, you’d have swapped SIM cards when you got the new one.
Of course hindsight is so much easier than foresight…

reinharden, that would have been ideal, but the iPhone’s SIM card slot is not accessible.
um… the SIM card is quite accessible. Just take a look at page 113 of the manual here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/....._Guide.pdf

I too never got a chance to actually log on iTunes and try to activate the very phone I sttod in line for from 3:00 PM on Thursday, until I arrived home at 10:30 PM last night (Other commitments). Anyway, I too received that “AT&T is now processing your activation. You will receive an email confirmation once your activation is complete.†So, natually, I assumed it would be activated by the time I arose from my night of no sleep, the previous night, and as of 4:30 PM Saturday, it has NOT
After waiting in line for 2 hours to pick my new iPhone, I have now unsuccesfully waited for over 48 hours to get it activated by AT&T! What a disaster!
Seems apple will find some way to piss me off. Headphone jack is all proprietary so I can use my Sennheisers of course. Anyone knows of an adapter that you can use? Only problem is with that is you can’t answer the phone with custom head phones. You need the mic built in to the head phones I believe.

The phone looks cool but too bad speed is slow compare to whats out there. Too bad it’s only for AT&T and ocourse the price
