Kwang-Soo Kim of Samsung

The Canadian Press reported today what Apple’s rivals in the mobile phone industry think of the iPhone. May Wong summed it up well in her article on what Apple’s competitors are saying:

Apple’s competitors predict that even as the gadget will likely boost the company’s fortunes, it will have limited market share and fall short of the successes Apple has seen with its iPod portable music player. They contend some of the phone’s much-touted features - such as its touch screen, movement sensors and music player - are not innovative or new.

Samsung vice president Peter Skarzynski said of Apple’s iPhone, “They’re just jumping into the party where everyone else is.” Oh, that party where Apple is the popular hipster and everyone else is standing quietly over by the wall?

And Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said Nokia isn’t going to change its business approach because of the iPhone.

iPhone competitors say the iPhone is nice but “nothing revolutionary.” You wouldn’t expect them to admit if they thought Apple was going to blow them out of the business, though.

they also said nobody will buy it and in the first day they sold half a million in US only. And more to come. it might be not all new but it is the most clever put to gether for sure. I used to be a Nokia fan but thats is out of the window from now on 4 sure. mp3 player been out before the ipod released or? so same situation its the way the company brings the product to you. Wether u like it pr not the iphone is the most complete pruduct on todays mobil, mp3 and portabel internet market and if there is more people thinking like me they gonna get massive support.

Surprisingly, this is true. However, add some sparkle and some new tricks and you take a new spin an an old idea and it becomes a new idea. Put some marketing and cute models with some teenage kids with a user frienly interface on the coat tails of your last succcess and you won’t fail. Apple has done preciely that and turned that new idea into a cash cow and these companies are tryignt o figure out how to do that very thing in order to compete. the features mentioned HAVE beent here for at least 6 months to a year! The one flaw in the plan was that the people who already bought the iphone got understandably mad when the price dropped so suddenly in order to lur more people to buy it.
